Ore through a portal: the Portal – Stone lets it pass
Everyone says ore never goes through a portal. That is true of the ordinary Portal, but not of the Portal – Stone.
What works
- Through the Portal – Stone you travel with everything you carry: ore, metal, scrap, even the Dragon Egg.
- You build it near a Stonecutter from 30 Grausten, 2 Molten Cores and 10 Greydwarf Eyes.
- With a Portal – Stone at both ends, you get there and back again with a full load.
What doesn’t
- Ore, metal or scrap through the ordinary Portal. The game then says: “An item prevents you from teleporting”.
- Sacrificial Blood through any portal at all. Not even the Portal – Stone lets it through.
Why?
For every item the game decides whether it may pass through a portal. For all ores, metals and scrap the answer is no, and for a few rare things too, such as the Dragon Egg, Hildir’s chests or the Mechanical Spring. Loads like these are meant to come home by ship or cart; that is how the game is designed.
The Portal – Stone has an exception built in: it lets through everything you carry. Only Sacrificial Blood is marked more strictly still, and stays behind.
What counts is always the portal you step into. Walk into an ordinary Portal with ore, and it makes no difference what stands at the other end.
Choose the “Portal Items” setting when you create the world, and you may take almost anything through any portal. Sacrificial Blood stays behind even then.
